Noel Gallagher quits Oasis after Paris ‘altercation’

Years of public bickering between brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher have finally led to a split in the Manchester band. The fight between the brothers took place minutes before they were due on stage for the Rock en Seine festival in Paris.

Issuing a statement on Oasisinet.com, Noel Gallagher said, “It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”

A tweet by onlooker and fellow performer Amy Macdonald read: “Oasis cancelled again with one minute to stage time! Liam smashed Noel’s guitar, huuuge [sic] fight!”

A waiting crowd of over 30,000 were told by the organizers that the Gallagher brothers had fought backstage, stating: “The group no longer exists. They will not play tonight and they are cancelling the rest of their European tour.” Stunned crowds thought the statement a joke, until stage-side screens showed the following message, “As a result of an altercation within the band, the Oasis gig has been cancelled.”

Recent news sources are quoted as saying Noel Gallagher may well be plotting his next move, but the movements of the other bands members are not clear. A British tabloid reported that the rest of the band was ready to join Noel, leaving Liam in their wake. However, other reports suggested that Liam and bassist Andy Bell, had taken a vacation in Italy.
